Stuart Cunningham is Distinguished Emeritus Professor, Queensland University of Technology, Professor, University of Canberra, and Senior Associate, Outside Opinion. He is a leading researcher and advocate for the development of cultural and creative industries policies. He directed the first Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence based outside the hard sciences (Creative Industries and Innovation) from 2005 to 2014 and has advised Australian governments and agencies in communications and arts portfolios. He has worked closely with bodies such as the UK’s Nesta and recently consulted on developing creative industries research and policy in Iceland. Recently, he has co-authored or co-edited books on Media Economics, A Research Agenda for Creative Industries, and emerging creative industry practice on digital platforms in the screen industry (Social Media Entertainment: The new intersection of Hollywood and Silicon Valley, Wanghong as Social Media Entertainment in China and Creator Culture: An Introduction to Global Social Media Entertainment).
