
Director, Research at BOP Consulting
Richard is Director, Research at BOP Consulting, an international research and strategy practice focused on culture and the creative economy. He has over 30 years experience of contract research experience in the field, gained at both BOP and in academia, having also worked across four continents and for a wide range of city, region, national and multilateral clients. A common thread throughout his career has been the intersection between urban and regional development and digital innovation in the creative industries. Additional research interests and expertise include the evaluation of major programmes and projects, the social and economic impacts of culture, intellectual property policy, cultural and creative industries statistics, festivals and mega events, and capital projects and place-based development. Prior to BOP, Richard worked for the universities of Westminster and Newcastle, and holds first and second degrees from Goldsmiths College and York University respectively.
