Dr Wessel Vermeulen is a Lecturer in Economics at Newcastle University Business School. He is an applied economist working on topics in international economics, in issues of international trade, migration and finance. Currently, his work applies international perspectives in the regional contexts in various settings. His work has been published in Economic Journal and Journal of Economic Geography among others. Prior to his position at Newcastle University he was a research fellow at the University of Oxford.
