Frank Lyons

Dean of Research and Innovation, Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Ulster University

Frank Lyons was appointed as Dean of Research and Innovation at Ulster University in 2017. He is a composer and researcher and performances of his original compositions and installations of exhibitions have been given in China, Japan, Australia, South Africa, the US, Europe, the UK and Ireland and broadcast on BBC, RTE, NPR and ABCFM.

Internationally renowned publishers have disseminated his journal articles and book chapters. He is founder and PI on the ‘Inclusive Creativity’ project which aims to level the playing field for disabled composers and performers using technology and which was rated first in the UK for research impact in REF2021. He is PI on the £75m Studio Ulster project and Co-Director of Future Screens NI. He was awarded an MBE in 2020 for services to Music and Higher Education and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
