Olivia Gable

Independent Researcher

Dr Olivia Gable has a research background in creative industries, cultural policy, popular music, and insecure and precarious work. She currently leads research at Paul Hamlyn Foundation (PHF) on young people’s futures, and she’s interested in creative, participatory, storytelling, and futures methods. Before joining PHF, Olivia spent four years at the Work Foundation at Lancaster University. There she co-authored major reports on social mobility for the PEC and led developmental research for the foundation’s insecure work strand. Olivia has also been a consultant for music charities and social enterprises, co-authoring the 10-year evaluation of PRS Foundation’s Women Make Music fund and creating evaluation tools for the Music Leaders Network. Olivia is an Associate of YSWN. In 2021, she received a New Scholar’s Fellowship from the Bristol+Bath Creative R+D Cluster. Olivia holds a PhD in Sociology from Open University and an MA in Cultural and Creative Industries from King’s College London.
