Reader in Economics at Newcastle University Business School
Dr Sara Maioli is an applied economist with expertise in firm-level data. Her research interests span international trade, labour, development (including regional and rural development), international business and the creative economy. She published, among others, in the International Journal of Production Economics, the British Journal of Industrial Relations, Regional Studies, The Journal of Development Studies, and The World Economy. Sara works as a Reader in Economics at Newcastle University Business School. Prior to that she worked as a research fellow for three years at the Centre for Globalisation and Economic Policy of the University of Nottingham. She holds an MSc in Economics from the University of Glasgow under the Scottish Doctoral Program and a PhD in Economics from Strathclyde University. She has been involved since 2018 as coinvestigator in the Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre, where she contributes to the research on the international competitiveness of the creative industries, delving into issues related to exporting, foreign direct investment and migration.
