Deputy Director of Creative PEC and Deputy Chair of GCEC
At Creative PEC Karen works with the research and policy teams to engage policymakers at local and national levels and she leads the international programme. She is Deputy Chair of the Global Creative Economy Council (GCEC), a standalone forum for global creative economy policy and practice, supported by Creative PEC and the British Council.
Before joining Creative PEC Karen was a partner in a consultancy firm where she developed cultural and creative strategies for the growth of creative businesses, clusters and regions, and led research and policy recommendations to address key sectoral issues such as copyright, sustainability, education and infrastructure. Prior to that, she held roles at UCL where she designed the university’s flagship international programme enabling new collaborative research projects across disciplines, at the British Council she established overseas creative economy programmes in several countries, and in the publishing industry where she sold international rights.
