Iqra is a Policy Engagement Manager at the Creative PEC, where she works with Bernard, Emily and Nik to translate the Centre’s research into briefings and recommendations for policymakers. Before joining the PEC’s Northern hub in Newcastle upon Tyne, Iqra worked at Cancer Research UK, translating biomedical research for a variety of audiences, from fundraisers at the local Race For Life, to MPs in Parliament.
Iqra holds an MSc in Science Communication, and a PhD from the University of Manchester, which focused on the relationship between international research collaborations and governance, using Antarctica as a case study. Whilst completing her PhD, she undertook a Fellowship at the House of Lords, and served as an official Rapporteur to the annual Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting. She is passionate about bringing robust research to policy at the local, regional, national and international level and fostering greater equality, diversity and inclusion across the creative industries.
