Emily Hopkins

Policy Advisor

Emily is a Policy Adviser at the Creative PEC, where she works with Bernard and Nik to translate the Centre’s research into policy-focused outputs. Prior to joining the PEC, she was a social researcher in the Arts, Heritage and Tourism team at DCMS. She was previously the research and policy manager at the National Centre for Academic and Cultural Exchange.

Emily holds an MA and PhD in cultural geography from Royal Holloway, University of London. For this, she qualitatively researched the role of independent artists during the build-up to the UK City of Culture 2021 programme, which was based in her home city of Coventry. Her wider interests include place-based policies/strategies, the socioeconomic impacts of creative activity and fostering inclusivity across the creative sectors.
