Ula Furgal is a Postdoctoral Researcher at CREATe, the UK Copyright and Creative Economy Centre at the University of Glasgow. Prior to joining CREATe, Ula was a Doctoral Researcher at the European University Institute of Florence. She has recently completed her PhD thesis on the effects of expansion of copyright on news online on the EU copyright framework. Ula holds an LLM in Intellectual Property Law from Trinity College Dublin and a Masters in Law from Jagiellonian University (Krakow, Poland). She has previously worked as a Research Assistant for CLAUDETTE project concerning automation of privacy policies evaluation using machine learning, and as a lawyer in the area of data protection law. As a part of the Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre (PEC), Ula works on the issues concerning the regulation of the platform economy.
