Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Newcastle University Business School
Professor Jonathan Sapsed is Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Newcastle University Business School. He was Principal Investigator of the Brighton Fuse projects, a £1.2m initiative to map, measure and enhance a significant creative – digital cluster. He then joined the Creative Fuse North East successor project also funded by AHRC, which has researched over 500 firms and delivered business support to over 300. Jonathan has researched innovation in digital firms in Silicon Valley in the US, UK video games developers, as well as companies such as Disney, Sun Microsystems, Ericsson, and QinetiQ. He has advised national and regional governments on innovation and creative industries policy.
Jonathan is co-editor of the Oxford Handbook of Creative Industries and his work is published in journals such as Research Policy and Organization Studies. His current AHRC/ Innovate UK projects include innovation in the performance arts sector and clustering and international competitiveness in the PEC.
